Snowboarding, skiing, snowmen and hot chocolate by an open fire. What’s not to love about ski season after a long, dry, scorching Australian summer? Nothing, right? Gearing up for a winter escape to the Snowy’s sounds idyllic and while there is nothing wrong with reaching for the phone to book a chalet or room at your favourite resort, there are some pretty compelling reasons *not* to start dialling just yet. Check it out at www.brunchfuelledvagabond.com/10-reasons-not-to-book-your-winter-escape-at-a-ski-resort

Set at the base of the Snowy Mountains in NSW Talbingo is the ideal place to stop for a night or a week.  The only way to explain how small this picturesque town is, is to say ‘the general store doubles as the post office’.  That’s a thing in Australia.  We do that.
A short drive from your doorstep takes you to caves, ski grounds, picnic areas and a BRoom factory.  If you are truly lucky you will see wild brumbies and lyre birds on your travels.
With nothing but birdsong to wake you in the morning to take your morning stroll down to the see the mist rising almost magically from the lake, Talbingo is one of Australia’s best kept secrets.
